Home Additions

Second stories, bump-outs, and in-law suites — built by the same team from foundation to final trim. We match your home so the addition looks like it was always there.

Why an Addition

Get the space without the move.

The right addition gives you the room you need without uprooting your family, your school district, or your equity. We've built dozens of them across northern New Jersey — and we've never handed one off to a subcontractor.

From the first walkthrough to the final coat of paint, one Terzi crew runs the whole job. We handle architectural drawings, permitting, structural work, electrical, plumbing, HVAC tie-ins, framing, drywall, and finish. The exterior gets matched siding, matched windows, and matched roofline so it reads as part of the original house — not a tacked-on box.

What We Build

Every Kind of Addition

Second Stories

Add a whole new floor without losing your yard. Master suites, kid bedrooms, dedicated home offices — we'll engineer the structure to carry it cleanly.

Bump-Outs

Push a kitchen, dining room, or family room out a few feet for the extra breathing room that changes how the space lives. Often permittable without a variance.

In-Law Suites

Self-contained spaces with separate entries, accessible layouts, and full bathrooms — purpose-built for aging parents or adult kids who need their own door.

Garage Conversions

Turn an underused garage into a real living space — properly insulated, heated, and tied into the home's electrical and HVAC systems.

Three-Season Rooms

Permanent sunrooms and porches with structural footings and glazing rated for New Jersey winters. Not the prefab kits that bow in 10 years.

Finished Attics

If the head height is there, the attic is the cheapest square footage you'll ever add. We'll tell you straight whether your house can handle it.

How We Work

The Process

01

Walkthrough

Zee comes out, listens to what you want, looks at the structure, talks tradeoffs. No pressure, no pitch deck.

02

Design & Quote

Drawings, material specs, line-item budget. You see exactly what you're paying for before anyone swings a hammer.

03

Permits

We pull them. We deal with the inspectors. We know the township offices — that alone saves weeks.

04

Build

Our crew. Start to finish. You get one phone number, one schedule, one person responsible.

Common Questions

Most second-story additions run 4–6 months from permit to keys. Bump-outs and smaller additions are faster — typically 8–12 weeks. The permit cycle in NJ is the biggest variable; we'll give you a realistic schedule after the first walkthrough.
Yes. We match siding, roofing, window style, and trim profile. If your siding is a discontinued line we'll find the closest match available — and on older homes we sometimes recommend re-siding the original portions so everything reads as one cohesive house.
For most additions, yes — we work in phases and seal off the construction zone with temporary dust walls. Second-story additions usually involve a few weeks where part of the house is opened to weather; we plan those windows tightly and coordinate with you.
Cost depends on size, finishes, structural complexity, and your existing foundation. Rough planning numbers in our market: bump-outs from $80K, full second stories from $250K, in-law suites from $180K. We give a real fixed-scope quote after the design phase, not a finger-in-the-air estimate.
Correct. Framing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, drywall, finish carpentry, painting — all in-house. The only outside work is specialty items like engineered trusses (manufactured), countertop fabrication, and certain inspections.
